Project Manager

Our Silver Spring Studio is looking for a highly motivated for a diversely talented Project Manager to join our team, who will be responsible for managing exhibit design projects from concept through installation.

The Project Manager is the primary point of contact between the design teams and client and is responsible for the coordination of internal and external project teams, creation and oversight of exhibit schedule and budget, and confirmation of contractual scope and deliverables per the signed contract. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader that can easily adapt to a shifting environment while maintaining G&A standards and procedures.

As a member of this diverse group, you will work collaboratively with internal physical and digital design teams, consultants, and clients from renowned museums, corporations, universities and governmental organizations.

Responsibilities include; manage day-to-day operational aspects of project while maintaining adherence to contracted scope and G&A project management procedures, identify staffing resources needed on a project-by-project basis, work with other project leaders to assign and track individual responsibilities, develop cost estimates to ensure design falls within client’s exhibit project budget, facilitate full team communication by running internal and external meetings effectively, resolving and/or escalating issues in a timely fashion, documenting and tracking decisions, approvals, and action items from meeting and calls, and managing G&A subcontractors to ensure seamless integration of all design aspects; consultants include architects, historians, writers, fabricators, media producers, general contractors, AV systems designers, lighting designers, etc., minimize G&A exposure and risk on a project, identify opportunities for process improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change, maintain internal project financial documentation, Assist with business development activities for new pursuits, identify additional-service opportunities as they relate to a specific project, effectively convey G&A message in both written and verbal business opportunity discussions, manage client expectations by educating on project and G&A process, maintaining regular communication, and establishing a review and approval process, maintain a technical understanding of exhibit and museum development including design, graphic design, and exhibit fabrication, and maintain familiarity with museum industry standards: AAM guidelines, ADA compliance, operational strategies.

Senior Graphic Designer

The Graphic Designer will work closely with the creative team — and play a leadership role — in creating memorable visitor experiences, as well as integrating text, images and media of all kinds. The Graphic Designer works as a member of an integrated team that includes content developers, exhibit designers, media designers and developers, marketing specialists, and the client.

Responsibilities are as follows; participate in conceptual development and illustrate design concepts through a variety of mediums depending on the project scope of work, develop graphic standards and hierarchies per project style and content, attend internal and client meetings to understand the content and materials available to bring the exhibition graphic elements to life both interpretively and creatively, develop designs from conceptual, ideation stage to the final design, construction design and implementations, lead a team of designers and work in a team environment including G&A staff, subcontractors, clients, suppliers and industry contacts, present confidently to client teams, work within tight schedules, in a fast-paced working environment, multi-task; able to lead and work on several different projects at a time, travel to meetings and site visits as required by projects, responsible for maintaining client missions and design objectives throughout the project, disseminate work within the graphics team when appropriate; review and approve design deliverables as required, provide updates and milestone deliverables to creative director for review/input, coordinate and manage meetings pertaining to graphic and interpretive development, conduct design sessions with team to develop and monitor design and direction, work with production teams to maintain design integrity within project documents and artwork, and to coordinate and itemize presentation deliverable, format and schedule, and be responsible to project budget and schedule; to coordinate with team leaders to monitor/manage design man-hours.

Qualifications include; Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design with a minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental graphic design or related field, strong technical drawing skills and Adobe CS Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), MS Office or Keynote.

Proven experience in multiple phases of the design process including: conceptualization, design development, and design intent drawings. The Exhibit Designer will work closely with the Senior Exhibit Designer and Creative Director to design, coordinate and integrate exhibits, graphics and media concepts into the overall physical needs of the space. In addition, the Exhibit Designer will play a key role in creating visuals to communicate the design intent of the spaces and visitor experience for the client team.

Responsibilities include; developing designs, including interactive experiences, 3-D exhibit elements, interiors, and artifact displays from conceptual stage through final drawings, developing drawing packages, including construction drawings, maintaining workflow in accordance with project schedule, with a variety of tasks and deadlines, collaborating with other designers, media and content developers, and help guide the design process to achieve project goals, working in a team environment including Gallagher & Associates staff, sub-contractors, and client contacts, participating in conceptual development and illustrate design concepts through a variety of mediums, including hand sketches, computer renderings and animations, and traveling to meetings and site visits as required by projects.

Senior Frontend Web Developer

We are seeking a full-stack developer who specializes in creative frontend development. This position will report to the Media team’s Technical Director. It is on-site only in midtown Manhattan.

Responsibilities include; developing public-facing interactives for immersive installation environments in elegant, extensible and reusable code, creating intelligent, thoughtful application design/architectures with a strong focus on public presentation, rigorous usage and longevity, suggesting existing and potential libraries and frameworks, interaction methods and design paradigms with UX, Design, and Content team staff, working within organized software processes, version control and bug-tracking tools, creating tools and efficiencies for the tech team and art/content production pipelines, mentoring junior development staff, and writing clear, comprehensive, annotated technical documentation for developed applications.

Requirements are as follows; 4+ years experience in frontend web development creating reliable, artistically-designed applications with rich media content, 2+ years experience with a major .js framework like React or Vue, 2+ years experience developing flexible and reusable application frameworks or libraries, and tools for asset and content ingestion, demonstrated use of the full web stack (MEAN/MERN), familiarity with newer ES6 standards, familiar with Node.js, Express, and Electron, Strong experience loading large assets and handling multiple nodes/clients, experience with real-time rendering (WebGL, Three.js, PIXI), experience ingesting web-service/API-based data, demonstrated experience implementing (or recreating) pixel-perfect interface designs, fonts, UI element animations and scene/module transitions, experience working with websockets, comfortable in either waterfall or agile environments. Multimedia/Interaction Designer
Singapore

Gallagher & Associates Asia is seeking an experienced Multimedia Designer to join our growing design studio in Singapore. They will work closely with the Design Director, and the creative team to implement, plan and refine industry-leading user interfaces and media components for museums, exhibits and a variety of user experiences and products.

Main responsibilities include; driving development of space oriented multimedia and software applications from conceptualization to implementation, define user interfaces for better user productivity, discoverability and simplicity, producing design concepts, creating wireframes and mockups based on project requirements, translating exhibit storyline content into design concepts that meet user experience standards, user goals and project objectives.

Required skills include; proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, demonstrating a keen eye for graphic design and typography, understanding of Interaction Design processes and guidelines, working knowledge of Flash is a strong advantage. In-depth knowledge of User Interface Design principals, Usability Methodologies, industry standards and trends, platform standards, and the software development process.

Required experience is as follows; ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, exceptional organizational and communication skills (verbal and written).
